Harmony Singing "Dream Team"
Molly and Becky first met in 2004 while singing together in the Los Angeles-based East European Folk Ensemble, Nevenka. They discovered their love of collaborating on vocal harmony arrangements while working together on a theatrical development project for Rickie Lee Jones, combining Appalachian and East European vocal techniques. Oddly enough, it was a match made in heaven. The combination of Becky’s deep Appalachian roots and Molly’s classical music training has led them to be referred to by many as a Bluegrass & Old-Time harmony teaching “Dream Team”. |
Some reviews from the class at Walker Creek Folk Music Camp:
"Stout and White - Harmony Dream Team! Loved all the warmups, apparatus care, tips, etc. Delivery fun and helpful! Loved the tunes we learned. Loved performing at student concert. Loved that it was organic and not all fricking theory! I wish the class was longer, they really made time fly!" "The energy, the fun! This is a new kind of singing for me, so I learned a lot in a comfortable setting. Listening was very helpful, singing, the most fun positive feedback. I'm glad we participated in the student concert - out of my comfort zone. Both Rebecca and Molly are so talented, kind, accepting of everyone's skills (and personalities)." "I liked the historical part of the music that Rebecca brought to the class. Because of her roots in the South we were able to learn so much about that musical tradition. I loved her dedication to the music. It made everything we learned feel very authentic. Longer classes would be super!" “Rebecca and Molly were great together and I can’t imagine having more knowledgeable, dedicated, and bona fide musicians as instructors!” “Great! Highly skilled with harmony technique and they had a great affinity toward each other and that made for positive vibes!” "Sensational! Positive and constructive.Organized with material and content but open and easygoing to the pace and vibes of the class." “I felt like we had two for the price of one!” |
